The QuickTime Fix

Installing Windows mmsystem006 Problem Solved!

mmsystem006 problem? Several solutions to the MMSYSTEM006 issue are available out there. This is the fifth solution from my list in the order of my personal opinion as to which is the most likely to solve your problem. Use ‘em all at your own risk, but one of these should do the trick.
February 28, 1999

It has been rumored that the MMSYSTEM006 error is caused by a missing [MCI] driver. While I’m not suggesting that this is the issue in every instance that the error occurs, try the solution below and see if it does the trick:

Download the 16-bit (yes, you heard me right) version of QuickTime for Windows and install it. If you want you can also install the 32-bit version over the top if you don’t already have it, but you MUST install the 16-bit version to fix the errors. Download the self-extracting file.

Right here.

If this doesn't work pick a magic bullet from the list below:

The Quick Microsoft Fix

The Downloadable Microsoft Fix

The Manual Microsoft Fix

The Control Panel Fix

The Intel Fix

The IrfanView Fix

If none of these solutions work for you, there is only one thing left to do:

Bum.

You could also ask the WindowsWeenie, hang out in our drivers discussion group or join one of our mailing lists appropriate to your particular interests.

Sadly, neither Web Developer's Journal, Markland Communities, Inc., Paige Turner, the author nor anyone else associated with these pages can in any way be held responsible for any technical advice or information presented here. It is simply not possible to check solutions mentioned against all possible combinations of hardware, software, expertise, foolishness, etc. In other words, we believe this information to be of value but cannot make any fabulous or other guarantees. Some of these solutions have been gathered from the great unwashed masses of the Internet who freely offer advice to all who seek it and some who don't. Take any advice received here with the proverbial grain of salt.
