Try <param name="target" value="main"> seems to work fine. The main may vary depending on the frame setup - I daresay "parent" is also a valid option. Applets seems too flakey for me, they work one moment then don't the next giving class length errors and truncation errors. Sometimes renewing the class file on the server and flushing the browser cache helps but it is not consistent so I guess I'll look at the JavaScript options.
